About Us
What is the Society of St Vincent de Paul?
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris in 1833 by a student, Frederick Ozanam, and six of his friends. It has grown to 800,000 members in 150 countries with 1,500,000 volunteers. It was founded on the principles of St Vincent who teaches us to see the face of Christ in the poor and suffering and it’s spirituality is centered in this teaching. Jesus said “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”(Matthew 25:34-40) We honor our Lord Jesus Christ by serving him both materially and spiritually in the person of the poor.
St Patricks Conference
St Patricks Conference of the Society of St Vincent de Paul is the second oldest in Tampa and the fourth oldest in the Diocese of St. Petersburg. It has been continually serving the needs of our neighbors since 1987. We are funded through the generosity of our parishioners. We are all volunteers with no paid staff. 100% of the money received from donors goes to those we help.
